Autumn Postcard

Working Process

I like drawing images that tell stories. This illustration was inspired by my memories of reading while walking and an adorable soothing sound of rain. Ohh it's so good to spend time alone in nature with a book!

Here I've collected some very rough sketches of character and postcard composition taken during the process. The whole process was done on a computer: from initial sketches to the final image.

Initial Sketches

As in many of my illustrations, I use Photoshop to start drawing rough initial sketches here. It helps me to be more flexible with spontaneous ideas.

In this initial sketching phase, I spend time playing around with the composition. Then, in the final line-drawing phase, I add small details.

I normally go with my intuition when choosing a color palette. So, I decided to skip this step here. But, in general, I almost always use warm muted color palettes in my illustrations.

Timelapse Video

I also recorded myself drawing this illustration. You can find below a  time-lapse video of the illustration.
